Therapy with infants and children

Your child is struggling and you’re worried. Whether your child appears too fearful or aggressive, too anxious or depressed, you know something is off. You’ve tried different parenting techniques and they are not helpful enough. Sometimes your heart breaks seeing the difficulties your child is facing. You’re frustrated with yourself and your children. You may doubt yourself as a parent.

I work with parents and children (including infants and toddlers) together, using your relationship to promote connection and healing as we deal with whatever difficulties your child is experiencing.

We may play, talk, use sensory-based activities or therapeutic touch to help your child learn to deal with the challenges of development, as well as any difficulties from ongoing stress or specific traumatic events. Over time, your child can learn to respond more flexibly and effectively to daily ups and downs. When relationships are used to promote connection based on security and trust, even the most difficult and challenging behaviors can change and heal.

Children I work with come from all kinds of families. The need for therapy comes from many different experiences, including the following –

  • Challenges in the parent-child relationship

  • Difficult behaviors at home, daycare or school

  • Trauma or loss in the family or community

  • Accidents, surgeries, or ongoing medical conditions

  • Adoption

  • Experience in the social welfare system

If you are ready to get the support you need to make changes in your family life, please give me a call at 510-691-8123 and set up a free 15-minute consultation. We can talk about what you want for yourself and your child and how therapy works.  You can begin to feel hopeful that you’ve found the right path to healing.
